After testing and failing, modifying and testing I have become very satisfied with the new Bergans Antarctica wind clothing. On the Arctic Ocean 2000 we become very happy with the microfiber which was used.
It was surprisingly endurable fabric. Bergans has not been abel to find the same, however the new microfiber is more windproof and taped which will be one step up concerning the windy continent down south. The jacket has become slimmer and also a bit longer. I do like to have the thigh covered when it is really windy. With the experience from the North Pole and the cold, I have always noticed how much the sun can heat on black/dark fabric even if it is -40 below zero. Dark colors on exposed spots to take the radiation from the sun. Black and dark red. Big chest-pockets both on the jacket and the salopants plus normal pocket on the salopant. I do want to have somewhere to heat my fingers in some situations. Zippers are more durable than the Arctic Ocean suite, so I do think this will please me down south. The wolverine skin I used on the Arctic Ocean looks the same and will use it down in Antarctica. I do think the skin will be happy to have been to both poles. Thanks to Bergans for good design and development.
